Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies have a soft center, so bake it for longer if you want a traditional choc chip cookie. Don’t overwork the dough too much, it can make the cookies flop. (Note, the picture above is of the cookies before they are baked.)
Ingredients
110 g butter
½ c (100 g) white sugar
¼ c (50 g) brown sugar
1 t (5 ml) vanilla
1 egg
1½ c (180 g) flour
1/2 t (2.5 ml) baking soda
1/4 t (1 ml) salt
130 g dark chocolate chips (or slab cut into pieces)
Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Melt butter in microwave for about 30 seconds until just melted. Beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Add vanilla and egg and beat on low speed until just blended. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until crumbs form. When the dough is formed into a ball, it should be just between too wet and too dry (it should not be sticky, and also not making crumbs). Add the chocolate.
Divide the dough into 12 pieces, and roll into balls. Place it on baking paper on a baking sheet, put them far enough apart so they don’t melt into each other. Bake for ±10 min. Shorter for soft cookies, longer for hard cookies. Allow to cool on top of the baking sheet for at least 20 minutes. Store in an airtight container.
Makes 12 cookies.
